2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Oil Pan Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair an Oil Pan on 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: To deal with the oil pan, elevate the car on a hoist, drain the engine oil and take out the oil filter. The following step is to remove the accessory drive belt splash shield. Turbochager equipped vehicles should have the turbocharger taken off, the air intake hose and oil cooler connector bolt removed without removing the coolant lines and the oil cooler re-placed. Take off the structural collar, lower torque strut, oil filter adapter, gasket and then the oil pan and gasket. Make sure that the oil pan and gasket surface areas are clean before you put Mopar Engine RTV GEN II at the oil pump to engine block parting lines. Place the oil pan gasket onto the block, install the oil pan next and tighten the screws to 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.). Attach the oil filter adapter and gasket and tighten their screws to 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.). If your car has a turbocharger, update the oil cooler seal, lubricate it, put the oil cooler on the oil filter adapter and make sure the notch fits into the tab as you install the oil cooler connector bolt, tightened to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.). The last part to install is the structural collar and lower torque strut after installing the oil drain plug and oil filter. After replacing! Next, drop the vehicle down and pour the right oil into the engine crankcase up to the proper point and then start the car to confirm there are no leaks.
