2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Power Steering Reservoir Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Power Steering Reservoir on 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Before servicing or repairing the power steering reservoir, first remove the cap from the remote power steering reservoir. Suck out all the liquid in the reservoir and then uncover the plastic engine cover. First, take off the clamp fastened to the supply hose on the power steering reservoir. Then remove the hose and its clamp on the return hose. After that, loosen the two bolts attaching the reservoir to the rear of the engine and gently remove it. Attach the reservoir bracket to the engine with the given bolts, tightening them to 10 Nm (90 in. lb.) and leave the throttle cable right in front of the reservoir just below its upper lip. Suspend the supply hose above the engine timing cover, yet below the wiring harness, to make sure it stays away from any places that could damage it. After fitting the port hose onto the reservoir, place and secure the clamp past where the bead starts on the reservoir fitting. Make the same modification for the other fluid return hose. Place the plastic engine cover back, refill the reservoir to its proper level, run the engine briefly, switch it off, check the fluid and add more as needed before installing the filler cap.
