2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Wheel Stud Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove and Install a Wheel Stud on the Front Wheel Hub on 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Before trying to remove the front wheel hub, take off the brake rotor first by hand so you don't damage the wheel bearing. When it is possible, set a regular wheel mounting nut (2) on the wheel mounting stud (5) before you take it out so its threads reach its end. Put attention to the hub in order to line its stud with the notch found in the front of the steering knuckle (4). Install Remover (1), Special Tool C-4150A, on the hub flange and the wheel stud and with the Remover tightened, push the stud out the back of the hub flange. After the stud's shoulder is passed the flange, pull out the Remover and then remove the nut and stud from the flange. Install the hub by inserting the new wheel mounting stud into the rear hub flange. Add several washers and a wheel (lug) nut with the smooth side facing the washers, since this will prevent the nut from binding. Tighten the wheel mounting nut (2) until you see the stud head is seated against the back of the hub flange and remove the nut and washers. In the end, reattach the brake rotor and any other components you removed to carry out the job.
