2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Wiper Motor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Front Wiper Motor on 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Before you service the front wiper motor, open the hood and remove the battery negative cable. Lift up on the wiper arm nut cap using a trim stick or counterpart and remove it, next remove the wiper arm retaining nut. With the arm over the pivot, take it off with small rocking movements. Afterward, remove the seal from the rear engine compartment at the cowl and detach eight retainers, four from the right side and three from the left. Switch off the front wiper motor posi-lock, pull out the harness connector and remove the three mounting bolts to take the module out of your vehicle. Loosen the drive link that runs to the motor crank ball joint, then remove each of the three bolts securing the front wiper motor to it. Starting the installation, hold the motor over the wiper linkage and insert the three bolts to fasten the front wiper motor. Join the drive link to the motor crank ball joint and then place the front wiper module into the cowl area before installing its three bolts, with the torque set to 8 N.m (75 in. lbs.). Join the front wiper motor posi-lock harness connector and fit the cowl cover in order, with the left side cover going first, three push retainers, then the right side cover two retainers and finally install the rear engine compartment seal. Before installing the wiper arms, make sure the wiper system is off, then place the front wiper arms so that the drivers and passengers' blades align with the windshield park line. Set the arm on the pivot with it over/centered in position, attach the wiper arm retaining nut and tighten it to 21 N.m (190 in. lbs.), then put on the wiper arm nut cap. Next, wrap the battery negative cable on its terminal and close the hood.
