2006 Dodge Caravan A/C Accumulator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an A/C Accumulator on 2006 Dodge Caravan?
A: To start servicing or fixing your A/C accumulator, first take the refrigerant from the system and take off the air cleaner housing on the right part of the engine compartment. Remove the bolts connecting both liquid lines to the A/C accumulator, separate the liquid lines and rid yourself of the O-ring seals. If the vehicle is unattended, place plugs or cover the open liquid line fittings and the ports on the A/C accumulator with tape. After that, unscrew and remove the two nuts from the A/C accumulator mounting bracket and pull out the A/C accumulator. If you are replacing the A/C accumulator, add 25 milliliters (0.8 fluid ounce) of the corresponding oil for your A/C compressor into the refrigerant system at this time. Put the A/C accumulator with the mounting bracket over the weld studs, tighten the two nuts to 10 N.m (89 in. lbs.) and remove the tape or plugs from both the liquid line fittings and A/C accumulator ports. Spray the new rubber O-ring seals with oil and fit them onto the liquid line fittings before linking the A/C liquid lines to the A/C accumulator. Bolt down every A/C liquid line to 11 N.m (97 in. lbs.), mount the air cleaner housing, remove the refrigerant and add the required amount as needed.
