2006 Dodge Caravan A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Service and Repair an A/C Hose Discharge Line on 2006 Dodge Caravan?
A: The first step to serving the A/C discharge line is to recover the refrigerant and take out the right headlamp unit. Afterwards, come out the nut sealing the A/C discharge line at the right on the A/C condenser, detach the line and throw out the O-ring seal and gasket. Now, install caps or tape on the discharge line fitting and the condenser inlet for security. Lift the vehicle and, for those with 2.5L and 2.8L diesel engines, remove the belly pan from under the engine compartment. Then, unscrew the nut at the connection between the A/C discharge line and the A/C compressor, disconnect the line and discard both the seal and gasket. Then, add plugs or tape over the opened discharge line fitting and the compressor discharge port and only after that remove the A/C discharge line from the engine compartment. To install, move the A/C discharge line to the engine area and remove the plugs or covers from the compressor port and end of the discharge line you just fitted. Cover the inside of the new rubber O-ring seal with oil and fit it along with a fresh gasket onto the discharge line fitting. Then, put the A/C discharge line onto the compressor and tighten the nut to 23 N.m (17 ft. lbs.). The belly pan should be reinstalled, the car lowered and any tape or plugs from the condenser inlet port and discharge line fitting removed for models with 2.5L or 2.8L diesel engines. Lubricate another rubber O-ring seal with clean refrigerant oil and fit it together with a gasket onto the discharge line fitting, after which connect the discharge line to the A/C condenser and secure it with the nut, tightly secured to 23 N.m (17 ft. lbs.). Last, set the proper headlamp unit back, empty the refrigerant system and add more refrigerant to it.
