2006 Dodge Dakota Wheel Hub Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Repair a Wheel Hub on 2006 Dodge Dakota?
A: Raise the vehicle, place it on support stands and then start by taking out the wheel and tire, then the caliper and rotor. If the vehicle includes ABS, take the wheel speed sensor and halfshaft nut out for 4X4 models. Don't make contact between the knuckle and a hammer's head when you are separating the tie rod or ball joint. Lift up on the steering knuckle to unplug the halfshaft from the hub/bearing on 4X4 models and then remove the three bolts that hold the hub/bearing to the steering knuckle. Slide the bearing/hub away from the steering knuckle and get rid of the dust shield for the brakes. When you're installing, place the brake dust shield back first, install the hub/bearing into the steering knuckle and tighten the bolts to 163 Nm at 120 ft. lbs. Following this, put back the brake rotor and caliper and for ABS, the wheel speed sensor if it's involved. After placing the halfshaft nut onto 4X4 models, tighten it to a torque of 251 Nm (185 ft. lbs.) and then put the wheel and tire back on. Once you are done, remove the support and low the vehicle down.
