2006 Dodge Dakota Coil Springs Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair Coil Springs on 2006 Dodge Dakota?
A: The first step to serving or repairing the coil spring is to remove the shock. After that, put the shock assembly into the Branick 72009 spring removal/installation tool or into a similar alternative. Squeeze the spring, holding it in place and place shock nut wrench 9362 on the shock shaft retaining nut. Attach a 8 mm socket through your wrench to the hex at the end of the shock shaft and while holding the shaft, unscrew the nut with the wrench. After that, take out the upper shock nut, the shock and the shock upper mounting plate. After examining both spring isolators, install the lower one first, then set in the opening the upper isolator. Adjust the shock inside the coil spring and then put the upper shock mounting plate on top. Secure a torque wrench onto the shock shaft and tighten the shock retaining nut to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.) by turning the wrench another 3/4 of a turn with the wrench's socket stationary. Put in the upper shock mounting nut, release the pressure on the spring and take out the shock from the compressing tool before to install it for good.
