2006 Jeep Commander Dimmer Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Dimmer Switch on the Left Multi-Function Panel on 2006 Jeep Commander?
A: Before servicing the left multi-function switch on cars with air bags, you should disconnect the negative battery cable, wait two minutes and then isolate it. Unfasten both the upper and lower shroud from the steering column at first, then remove the two screws that attach the left multifunction switch (1) to the left side locating tabs (3) on the SCM (2). Pull the switch toward the back of the SCM to cut power and take it out. Before installing, set the left multi-function switch against the back of the SCM and reconnect its connector. After fitting the switch housing over the two locating tabs on the SCM, add and tighten the two screws to 0.35 N.m (3 in. lbs.). Lastly, put on the upper and lower steering shrouds, then link the negative side of the battery to the cable.
