How to Safely Service and Install a Wiper Switch on 2006 Jeep Commander?

Before handling the windshield washer switch, first turn off the supplemental restraint system on air bag-equipped cars to keep yourself or others safe. Remove the negative cable from the battery, giving two minutes for the air conditioning system capacitor to discharge before you continue. After taking off both shrouds, unbolt the two screws holding the right multi-function switch to the tabs on the Steering Control Module (SCM). Take out the SCM by simply pressing the switch on the back and pulling it out completely. Fix the right multi-function switch over the back of the SCM and join the connector to it. Put the locating tabs on the SCM into the switch's slots, place and tighten the screws until they reach 0.35 N.m (3 in. lbs.) of torque. In the end, install the upper and lower shrouds on the steering column and link the battery negative cable.
