How to Service the Right Wiper Switch on Jeep Commander?

Before you work on a multifunction switch, disconnect the negative battery terminal and let the car's capacitor discharge for two minutes to keep the air bag from deploying mistakenly. Primarily, move both the upper and lower shrouds on the steering column. After that, take out the screw holding the right multi-function switch to the mounting bracket next to the Clock Spring. Move the switch away from the Clock Spring to free the slide tabs in the housing from the channel shapes on the bracket. Disconnect the jumper wire harness connector from the connector receptacle on the inboard end of the right multi-function switch and then pull the switch from the Clock Spring.

How to Install the Right Wiper Switch on Jeep Commander?

Before installing your multifunction switch, stop the SRS by unhooking the vehicle battery's negative terminal and letting the system capacitor discharge for two minutes. Bring the multi-function switch as close as possible to the attachable bracket connected to the right of the Clock Spring and connect the cables from the jumper wire harness to the switch connection on the inward side of the housing. Place the slide tabs of the hinges on the switches against the slots in the Clock Spring mounting bracket and push the switch firmly inside. Place the screw that holds the mounting tab on the back of the right switch into the mounting bracket in the Clock Spring and tighten it to 1 Nm (10 in. lbs.). Move on by installing the upper and lower shrouds onto the steering column and then secure the battery negative cable.
