2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Evaporator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair an Evaporator on 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Begin with removing the housing of the HVAC and then take it apart to get to the A/C evaporator inside. Lift the rubber seal open and delicately lift the A/C evaporator and insulator from the bottom half of the unit's housing. In case the lower rubber seal is deformed or damaged, remove it from the housing, then put in a new one. If necessary, also detach and discard the insulator from the evaporator and replace it if it's bent or damaged. If the front A/C evaporator is installed, include 60 milliliters (2 fluid ounces) of refrigerant oil in the refrigerant system, using only the cooling system oil provided for the A/C compressor in the vehicle. Should you remove them, fit an insulator over the evaporator and add the seal to the lower part of the housing, replacing any defective or damaged pieces. Set the A/C evaporator under the HVAC housing, clear out any dirt from its drain and connect the rubber seal and insulator prior to putting the housing together again.
