Q: How to Service and Repair an Intake Manifold on 2006 Jeep Liberty?
A: Before beginning intake manifold service, first disconnect the negative terminal from the battery and then remove the resonator and inlet hose. Separate the throttle and speed control cables, as well as the electrical connectors for the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor, Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor, Throttle Position (TPS) Sensor, Coolant Temperature (CTS) Sensor and Idle Air Control (IAC) Motor. Now, go ahead and take off the vapor purge hose, brake booster hose, speed control servo hose and PCV hose. Make sure to take out the connections between the generator, air conditioning compressor, left and right radio suppressors. Remove the ignition coil towers, the retain bolt for the top oil dipstick tube and the ground strap. Location the fuel system and get rid of the fuel rail, receiving box and mounting bracket. Drain the system after the coolant is no longer hot, then take out the front cover heater hoses and heater core and then remove and take off the heater hoses and tubes attached to the intake manifold. Undo the retaining fasteners for the intake manifold and temperature sensor in the opposite order you used to fasten them before you remove the intake manifold. First, lay the intake manifold gaskets on top of the cylinder head. Install the intake manifold and tighten its retaining bolts to 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.) in the correct order. Clip back the two radio suppressor straps and then attach the throttle body assembly. Hook the throttle and speed control cables onto the throttle body and then install the fuel rail and ignition coil towers. Attach the heater tubes to the intake manifold and then hook the heater hoses on to the heater core and engine front cover. Attach the wiring connecters for the MAP Sensor, IAT Sensor, TPS Sensor, CTS Sensor, IAC Motor, ignition coil towers and fuel injectors. Then, set in place the top oil dipstick tube bolt and ground strap, hook up the electrical generator wires and connect the vapor purge, brake booster, air control servo and PCV hoses. Finish by filling the cooling system, putting on the resonator assembly and air inlet pipe and attaching the negative side of the battery cable once again.
