2006 Jeep Liberty Parking Brake Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair a Parking Brake Cable on 2006 Jeep Liberty?
A: Before servicing or repairing the parking brake cable, lock out the cables and then take out the rear seat. Slightly pull the carpet ahead at the rear until you can reach the two parking brake cables stuck beneath. Then, remove their ends from the mounts at the front. Move the cables through the floor using the grommets, then remove the cable from the axle bracket by turning it with a correctly sized box end wrench onto the tangs. After that, take the brake cable out of the brake lever. First, feed the cables into the axle bracket and then attach the cable to its usual place on the park brake lever. Curve the cables beneath the floor and lay on the exposed tangs, then join the front cables to the mount once more. Remove the carpet from the rear and lower it into place. After that, install your rear seats using the same steps. Take off the lock out device from the lever, alter the park brake shoes and try testing the parking brake.
