2006 Jeep Liberty Wiper Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Wiper Arm on 2006 Jeep Liberty?
A: Begin by pulling the front wiper arm to its highest point so that its blade is off the glass and the wiper spring tension is relieved from where the wiper arm pivots. Gentle raise off the plastic nut cap at the pivot location of the wiper arm and remove the nut that keeps the wiper arm attached to the wiper pivot shaft. Should you need to, use a proper battery terminal puller to release the wiper arm from the pivot shaft and then disconnect the front pivot end from the same shaft. Before you begin installation, move the ignition switch to On and move the knob on the right wiper control stalk to Off until the wipers do not move anymore. Hold the wiper motor still which in park mode and put the pivot ends of the front wiper arms onto the wiper pivot shafts so that the tip of the wiper blade is lined up with the T-shaped lines on the windshield glass. As soon as the mounts are lined up, raise the wiper arm a little to release the spring tension and push the hole through the wiper arm down onto the pivot shaft. Secure the wiper arm to the wiper pivot shaft by first tightening the nut to 24 N.m (18 ft. lbs.). Soak the windshield glass, work the front wipers, switch them off and see if the wiper arms are positioned correctly, making changes when needed. Lift the assembly from the wiper arm and gently hammer on the cap to snap it into place over the bolt.
