How to Service and Repair a Timing Cover on 2007 Chrysler Aspen?

Before servicing the timing cover, you should separate the negative battery cable and then drain the cooling system. After that, unhook the heater hoses at the timing cover and the lower radiator hose at the engine. Completely unbolt the crankshaft damper, then the accessory drive belt tensioner assembly (1) and finally remove both the generator and the A/C compressor. The front cover on the 4.7L engine is sealed to the block with RTV from the factory; for repair, grey Mopar(R) engine RTV should be used. While changing the timing cover, the water pump doesn't require removal. Unscrew all the bolts fastening the timing cover to the engine and lift off the cover.
