2008 Chrysler Aspen Timing Cover Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Timing Cover on a 4.7L Engine on 2008 Chrysler Aspen?
A: It is important not to use oil or abrasive tools and to use rubbing alcohol when cleaning both surfaces of the timing chain cover and block prior to installation. There may be an RTV sealer in place rather than a carrier gasket on a 4.7L engine; if so, only Mopar(R) Grey Engine RTV should be used during servicing. When the front cover is missing water passage o-rings, use Mopar(R) Grey Engine RTV around where the water travels. Review the water passage o-rings to be sure they do not have any harm and change them if necessary. Mopar(R) Grey Engine RTV is best applied to the front cover in a layer that is 3 to 4mm thick. After installing the cover and applying the sealer, use a sequence of 3 to tighten the flange head fasteners to 58 Nm. Then, you should install the A/C compressor and generator and then the crankshaft damper. Fasten the accessory drive belt tensioner assembly and set the bolt tension to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.). After that, set up the lower radiator hose and both heater hoses. Fill the cooling fluid next and attach the battery negative cable lastly.
