2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser Brake Booster Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Booster on 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: The first step of serving or repairing the vacuum brake booster is to unclip the air cleaner cover and remove it from your way. Disconnect and isolate the negative cable from its place on the battery. Get rid of the master cylinder and in case the vehicle offers ABS, you'll need to remove the control unit as well. Take out the vacuum house from the check valve, but don't remove the check valve from its place. Take out the silencer pad from under the knee blocker and after that, fold down and pull out the knee blocker. Twist the stop lamp switch in a counterclockwise direction about 30 degrees and draw it rearward to release it from the bracket, disconnect the connector and toss out the switch. Place a small screwdriver beneath the center tang of the clip, twist it and let the tang pass over the brake pedal pin so you can then remove and discard the clip. Remove the booster push rod from the brake pedal pin. Find and remove the four nuts that are driving the brake booster to the instrument panel, as they are beneath the instrument panel by the brake pedal bracket. Slide the power brake booster ahead until the studs no longer touch the instrument panel and remove it by reaching it from the engine bay.
