2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser Spindle Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Repair a Spindle on Rear Disc Brakes on 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Before servicing or repairing the spindle in rear disc brake cars, you need to raise and support the vehicle. Undo the nuts holding the wheel mount, then get rid of the rear tire and wheel assembly. Then, take out the disc brake caliper guide pin bolts and move the caliper off the adapter. Tie or hang the caliper away from the rest of the components to keep it from suspending the flex hose which can cause damage. Remove each brake rotor retaining clip and take out the brake rotor. Take away the dust cap, then remove the hub nut and pull the hub and bearing off the spindle. Take out the two bolts holding the parking brake cable and brackets to the axle trailing arm. Antilock brake equipped vehicles have a screw between the wheel speed sensor and disc brake adapter. Remove this and then take out the sensor head as well. Turn the shaft and remove the bolts on their backs to loosen the adapter at the back of the disc brake.
