2007 Dodge Caliber A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install an A/C Hose for the Upper Suction Line on 2007 Dodge Caliber?
A: After placing the upper A/C line assembly into the engine compartment, eliminate any tape or stoppers on the refrigerant pipes and evaporator fittings. Put some clean R-134a refrigerant oil over the rubber O-rings on new dual-plane seals and place them onto the ends of both the liquid and suction lines, making sure only approved seals are used. Attach the assembly to the evaporator of the A/C and tighten bolt 3 to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). On RHD cars, make sure the retainers are used for the power brake booster vacuum supply hose. Have a colleague lift the right front fender as you install nut 1 so that the right front strut tower holds refrigerant line bracket 2. Tighten the nut to 4.5 Nm (40 in. lbs.) and reinstall the windshield washer reservoir, power steering reservoir and engine coolant reservoir. Attach heat shield 3 to studs on the dash panel with three nuts and tighten them to 1 Nm (10 in. lbs.). Raise the vehicle and afterward, take out any tape or plugs in the liquid line fitting and the condenser port. Smear a small amount of lubricant on a new rubber O-ring seal, connect it with the new gasket to the liquid line fitting on the A/C condenser and attach retaining nut 3 to 5 Nm (44 in. lbs.). First, fit the A/C accumulator, bring the vehicle back down, reconnect the negative battery cable + lower it, then evacuate the refrigerant system, check and add refrigerant oil and refill the system with refrigerant. Position the lower A/C suction line in the engine compartment, remove previously used tape or plugs from the suction line port and compressor port and slide a lubricated rubber O-ring seal onto the suction line fitting with a new gasket. Attach the lower A/C suction line to the A/C compressor and hold it with bolt nut 1, turning it to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.). Temporarily set aside the tap or plugs covering the suction line fitting and the accumulator port, run some lube onto a fresh rubber O-ring seal and screw it in place using a new gasket on the suction line fitting before connecting it to the A/C accumulator and securing it with nut 2 which should be tightened to 5 Nm (44 in. lbs.). Relocate the front of the right front wheel house splash shield to the body and secure it with three push-pin retainers and three screws. After that, replace the right front wheel, lower the vehicle and reconnect the negative battery cable. Never overfill the A/C system with refrigerant while the vacuum pump is being used or with a vacuum in the system so the compressor is not at risk of serious damage. After that, remove all the refrigerant from the system, set the oil level at the proper mark and charge up the A/C.
