2007 Dodge Caliber ABS Control Module Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace the ABS Control Module in a Gas Engine on 2007 Dodge Caliber?
A: Start by pulling the negative battery cable off the negative battery post before removing the Hydraulic Control Assembly for Antilock Brakes in a gas engine. By placing your foot on the brake pedal holding tool and pressing 25 mm (1 inch) into the pedal, the master cylinder stays detached from its part of the brake hydraulic system so the brake fluid does not drain out. Then, open the engine appearance cover, take off the two mounting nuts and take away the exhaust heat shield under the dash. Release the brake tube bundle clips from their studs on the dash panel, then take out all the brake tubes-the primary (4) and secondary (1) from the master cylinder at the hydraulic control unit (7) and the rest (2, 3, 5 and 6) at the same hydraulic control unit. Unscrew the screw holding the pressure hose routing clamp to the exhaust manifold. Press the tabs on either side of the cover and pull the ABM harness connector's bottom half up as you pull it out of the ABM. Detach the ICU mounting bracket from the body by loosening the screws but don't remove them yet, then lift both the ICU and the bracket off the screws. Handle the brake tubes carefully and, using the hole between the AC hoses and exhaust manifold, take out the IEU together with its bracket. Remove the Integrated Control Unit from the head using the disassembly instructions to set apart the ABM from the HCU.
