2007 Dodge Caliber Power Steering Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Power Steering Hose for a Gas Engine on 2007 Dodge Caliber?
A: Protect power steering fluid hoses for a gas engine by making sure they are insulated from the exhaust system, driveshafts and various hazardous places in the vehicle. First, clean both the end of the power steering hose and the opening on your power steering pump with a clean cloth, use a new O-ring for each and lubricate them with power steering fluid. Securely attach the end of the power steering pressure hose to the engine compartment's lower area and then tighten the power steering hose clamps on the crossmember to 8 Nm (71 in. lbs.). At the gear, join the pressure hose, tightening its tube nut to 32 Nm (24 ft. lbs.) and then connect the return tube, tightening the tube nut to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.). Place the return hose on the tube, bring the vehicle low and hook the pressure hose at the pump pressure spot, twisting the tube nut to 32 Nm (24 ft. lbs.). Secure the pressure hose routing bracket bolt to the upper mount, then for all models except 2.4L AWD, put the pressure hose routing clamp at the exhaust manifold and tighten the mounting bolt to 9 Nm. For the 2.4L engine that comes with All-Wheel-Drive, complete these instructions as well. After that, finish filling the steering pump, inspect it for leaks and set up the engine cover.
