2006 Dodge Dakota Air Bag Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service an Air Bag Sensor for Side Impact on 2006 Dodge Dakota?
A: To work on the side impact sensor, first break the circuit by disconnecting and insulating the negative battery cable and allow two minutes for the capacitor to discharge. Remove the trim from the right or left front door opening sill, then raise the floor carpet to see the side impact sensor under the right or left outboard front seat adjuster riser. Remove the two screws holding the side impact sensor to the floor panel and pull the body wire harness connector out of the sensor. Pull the sensor off the floor panel. During installation, set the new side impact sensor under the floor panel near either front seat adjuster riser and plug the body wire harness back into its connecter at the sensor. Place the anti-rotation pin on the sensor in the middle hole on the floor panel, making sure the arrow on the sensor points outboard. Tighten down the screws of the sensor on the inner B-pillar to 8 N.m (75 in. lbs). Cover the sensor with the floor carpet and fix the trim piece to the door opening sill. Never connect the negative battery cable until you have verified the supplemental restraint system after repairing any supplemental restraint system parts.
