2007 Dodge Ram 1500 Crankshaft Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Safely Extract the Crankshaft from an Engine on 2007 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: The engine must first be removed from the vehicle to be able to remove the crankshaft. Take the engine off and after that, remove the engine oil pump. Don't try to disturb the oil pan gasket while you're replacing the oil pan, as it is still connected to the cylinder block. After that, remove the bedplate mounting bolts, paying attention to where the two stud bolts were. Disconnect the rods carefully from the crankshaft so as not to harm the bedplate's important sealing area where it joins the cylinder block. Because the lower main bearing halves are inside the bedplate, treat the bedplate gently to prevent any damage, as incorrect installation of the halves could damage the crankshaft a lot. To remove the bedplate, pry it at the places where helpful points were included by the manufacturer. Take off the crankshaft and the crankshaft tone wheel at the last step.
