While adding the crankshaft, make sure the main bearings are proper and do not damage the bearing surfaces on the shaft. Coat both of the tone wheel retaining screws with sealant while you wait for the next step. Put clean engine oil on both bearing halves and fit the crankshaft tone wheel, tightening each mounting screw to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.). Place the crankshaft in the cylinder block and then set the thrust washers around it. To overcome the risk of extreme oil leaks, the edge of the cylinder block where it joins the bedplate must be treated with Mopar® Engine RTV grease. Apply a thin layer of Mopar® Engine RTV sealant that measures 2.5mm (0.100 inch) wide to the area where the cylinder block and bedplate mate. Pour clean engine oil onto the crankshaft main bearing journals and fit the bedplate onto the cylinder block. Apply clean engine oil to the bolts and fit them into place before the bedplate is installed. Place the retaining bolts on the inside of the bedplate while the stud bolts are in their proper holes and follow this order: tighten 1D, 1G and 1F by hand until the bedplate touches the block, tighten 1A through 1J to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.), tighten bolts 1 - 8 to 7 Nm (5 ft. lbs.) and follow with another 90° of tension on bolts 1 - 8, ending by tightening bolts A through E to Confirm the proper value for crankshaft end play, after that, fit in the connecting rods and check their side clearance, then add the pump and the engine.
