2007 Jeep Liberty Air Bag Control Module Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Service the Air Bag Control Module on 2007 Jeep Liberty?
A: To work on the Air Bag Control Module, begin by removing and isolating the battery's negative cable to shut down the supplemental restraint system, then give the system capacitor around two minutes to clear out so the air bag cannot release accidentally. Since damage to the impact sensor of the air bag control module can happen, be sure to avoid striking or dropping it. If the vehicle includes the Occupant Classification System, always replace the Occupant Classification Module first, wait at least a minute with the ignition on and then change the air bag Control Module to avoid a fault that can't be reversed. First, unplug the battery ground cable and separate the center console from the center of the transmission tunnel along the car floor. Before pushing, use a sharp tool to move aside the latch tabs on the ACM cover, then lift. Lifting the release tab on the ACM wire connectors and lifting the lever arm will disconnect them. Then, unscrew the ACM from the bracket attached to the top of the transmission tunnel's floor panel and remove the ACM.
