2007 Jeep Liberty Air Bag Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install an Air Bag for Side Curtains on 2007 Jeep Liberty?
A: Before fitting a side curtain air bag, you should turn off the supplemental restraint system by disconnecting and isolating the battery negative cable for two minutes. Since handling an air bag may cause irritation, always use rubber gloves, glasses and a long-sleeved shirt. If you find that the air bag has not deployed, yet is either ineffective or damaged, take action as required for unreleased supplemental restraints. Install the side curtain air bag into the vehicle by joining the two halves and pushing the four plastic fasteners straight into their holes in the side rail. After you have installed the curtain inflator bracket snugly in the U-nut in the roof rail, add the upper screw and tighten it by hand; follow with the lower screw, tightening it to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). In the back, fit and tighten each screw holding the air bag manifold to its bracket on the roof rail, fixed with 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.) of tightening. Pass the side curtain air bag pigtail wire through the trough on top of the extruded plastic air bag channel and down the B-pillar, facing the rear. insert the three pigtail wire retainer clips into the B-pillar, then attach the pigtail wire connector to the body wire harness connector beside the base of the B-pillar. Insert the side curtain air bag tether plastic retainer clip into the A-pillar and attach the push-pin fastener that links the tether retainer to the base of the A-pillar by the belt line. Slide the headliner and lower trim back into the B-pillar's inside section. Please don't reconnect the SRS negative cable until the verification test is completed after any component servicing.
