2007 Jeep Liberty TPMS Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a TPMS Sensor on 2007 Jeep Liberty?
A: Before installing a tire pressure sensor, make a note of the tire pressure sensor ID if you are changing the spare tire pressure sensor. Before you fit a sensor for the second time, change the valve cap, valve core and sensor seal so the sensor is airtight. Thoroughly clean the space around the sensor/valve stem hole in the wheel and ensure it isn't damaged. Push the sensor through the wheel and hold it up against the metal valve stem, so that the potted edge faces the wheel. During installation, the part of the seal on the stem should line up with the sensor housing and point at the wheel. Hand tighten the sensor nut so that the sensor housing is level with the wheel while inside, don't over-tighten the nut or you can separate the sensor from the valve stem. When putting on the tire, centre the sensor valve stem about 180 degrees from the head of the changer for rotating wheel tire changers and keep the sensor clear of the lower bead breaker area for rotating tool tire changers. Turn the air pressure using the Tire Inflation Pressure Label and make sure to replace the original style valve stem cap. Attach the tire and wheel assembly to the vehicle, drop it down, then if you stay in one place for more than 20 minutes, drive at a constant speed above 15 mph (24 km/h) for at least 10 minutes to let the system adapt to the new sensor. Replace the spare tire sensor on a Tire Pressure Monitoring System car after finding the new sensor's ID number. Access Miscellaneous Functions in the scan tool menu and choose "Learn Spare Tire Sensor ID" for programming. If you own a TPM-RKE Analyzer, switch the sensor to "Park" mode and if you don't have one, use one of the road tires to rotate the spare.
