2008 Dodge Sprinter 2500 A/C Expansion Valve Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How is an A/C Expansion Valve Installed in a Cooling System on 2008 Dodge Sprinter 2500?
A: Check and properly set the refrigerant oil before you install the expansion valve to keep the AC system from failing and damaging the compressor. To know how much oil to add when replacing several A/C parts, check the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart. Make sure to swap out the O-rings of the refrigerant lines whenever you remove them or there may be leaks. After opening the refrigerant tubes, remove the tape or plugs from them, as well as from the fittings of the evaporator tube and expansion valve ports. Only after lubricating them with suitable refrigerant oil should you replace rubber O-ring seals on the fitting of the rear evaporator tube. Then mount the rear A/C expansion valve onto the evaporator and use two bolts to fix it, making sure not to change the placement of the insulation around it. Link the rear refrigerant tubes to the rear A/C expansion valve and fit the rear roof ducts. Put the negative battery cable back, evacuate the cooling refrigerant from the rear, add the correct amount of oil and charge the rear refrigerant lines.
