2008 Dodge Sprinter 2500 Evaporator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How Can an Evaporator Be Serviced to Ensure Optimal A/C Refrigerant System Performance on 2008 Dodge Sprinter 2500?
A: Refrigerant system service should focus on correcting the oil level, since this prevents the system from malfunctioning and preserves the AC compressor. If you're only changing the evaporator, add 60 milliliters (about 2 fluid ounces) of recommended refrigerant oil into the system. Every time the A/C expansion valve is pulled out, the replacement of refrigerant line O-ring seals is required to prevent refrigerant leaks. Install the evaporator first, fixing it into the air conditioner area in the lower half of the HVAC housing (3). Then install the drain onto the lower half, keeping in mind to ensure its path is unrestricted and the drain is clean. Fix the condensate drain with two screws (1), setting the tightness to 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.). Install the A/C pan assembly and instrument panel all at once and, if the A/C evaporator was replaced, use only the specified amount of oil recommended for your vehicle's A/C compressor.
