2007 Dodge Sprinter 2500 A/C Expansion Valve Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Properly Install and Service an A/C Expansion Valve on 2007 Dodge Sprinter 2500?
A: First check and adjust the refrigerant oil level as it needs to be correct, since poor levels can cause the A/C system to malfunction and the compressor can also suffer damage. Always refer to the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart when doing a multiple A/C component replacement to find out how much oil you should add. Whenever you disconnect refrigerant lines, always put in new O-ring seals to stop leaks. At first, remove the tape or plugs found in the ends of the refrigerant lines, evaporator tube fittings and expansion valve ports. Clean refrigerant oil should be used to lubricate new rubber O-ring seals which should then be installed on the rear evaporator tube fittings using only the correct O-rings made for the R-134a system and the specified oil for the car's A/C compressor. Then, place the rear A/C expansion valve (2) onto the rear A/C evaporator and attach it with two bolts (1), turning them to 6 Nm (53 in. lbs.), checking that the insulation is back into place around the valve. Also, connect the rear refrigerant lines to the rear A/C expansion valve, add the rear roof ducts and reconnect the negative battery cable. Discharge the remaining refrigerant from the rear system, set the oil level right and fill the rear system with refrigerant.
