2008 Jeep Wrangler Air Bag Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Safely Service and Install an Air Bag Sensor on 2008 Jeep Wrangler?
A: When you need to work on the front impact sensor, make sure to disconnect and separate the battery's negative cable and wait for exactly two minutes for the SRS to drain. Since the front impact sensor can be sensitive, deal with it carefully, as any drop might injure it and cause problems; a damaged unit should be replaced by a new one. Side and front impact sensors can be swapped without difficulty. Install the right or left front impact sensor inside the car's engine compartment and return the engine compartment connector to the sensor receptacle. Put the sensor securely on the back of the front end module carrier, inside the car and next to the right or left headlamp, so that its anti-rotation pin goes into the clearance hole. Tighten the screw that attaches the sensor to the back of the carrier just until the torque is 8 Nm (70 in. lbs.). Never reattach the battery negative cable to the negative post until the SRS verification test following any SRS component service is completed.
