2008 Jeep Wrangler Parking Brake Shoe Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Condition a Parking Brake Shoe After Replacing the Lining on 2008 Jeep Wrangler?
A: When the parking brake lining is replaced, the parking brake system should be conditioned with a 25 mph stop on dry pavement or concrete, using a mild to fairly firm pressure on the parking brake lever. Place the support plate onto the axle seal plate and tighten all the bolts. Put the rear park brake shoes back together and slide the support plate onto the axle shaft before connecting the axle shaft to the axle. Attach the brake cable to the park brake shoe lever located behind the support plate and then affix the rear park brake cable to the equalizer. Unlock the front park brake cable and set in the rear wheel speed sensor. Set the rear brake shoes first, then add the disc brake rotor and disc brake caliper adapter as the next step. Afterward, put the tire and wheel together, add the required fluid to the rear axle, bring the vehicle down and check if the park brake system is working.
