2009 Chrysler Aspen Timing Cover Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Timing Cover on 2009 Chrysler Aspen?
A: The first step in installing the timing cover is to clean up the timing chain cover surface as well as the block area with rubbing alcohol and scraping tools made from plastic or wood, without using oil-based liquids, wire brushes, abrasive wheels or metal scrapers on them. If equipment includes RTV sealer instead of a carrier gasket, seal it with Mopar(R) Grey Engine RTV for proper service work when making repairs. If the front cover is missing places for the water passage o-rings, put Mopar(R) Grey Engine RTV around the water passages instead. Check the water passage o-rings for wear and get new ones if they're damaged. Mopar(R) Grey Engine RTV sealer should be applied to the front cover in a 3 to 4mm thick bead, followed by installation of the cover and tightening the flange head fasteners in order to 58 Nm or 43 ft. lbs. After that, install the compressor and generator for the A/C, before fitting the crankshaft damper. Attach the accessory drive belt tensioner assembly and tighten its fastener to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.). Install the lower radiator hose and both heater hoses at the next step. Next, fill the cooling system and attach the battery's negative cable.
