2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser Spindle Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair the Spindle on Rear Drum Brake on 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Service and repair the spindle of rear drum brake vehicles by raising and supporting the vehicle. Unscrew the nuts from the wheel mounting and after that, take out the rear tire and wheel assembly. After that, disconnect the brake drum clips and take out the drum. Remove the dust cap from the hub and bearing and then slide the hub nut from the center of the assembly. Next, remove the two screws holding the rear brake hose to the axle trailing arm, then the axle trailing arm's two bolts that attach the parking brake cable and the routing brackets. For cars with antilock brakes, undo the screw holding the antilock brake wheel speed sensor to the brake support and detach the sensor head. After that, unscrew the four bolts joining each brake shoe support plate and spindle to the axle and then push the support plate away from the axle as you remove the spindle.
