2009 Dodge Durango A/C Expansion Valve Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Rear A/C Expansion Valve on 2009 Dodge Durango?
A: Start by uninstalling the rear heater-A/C housing and then place it on a worktable. Any damage or bending of the foam seal for the flange requires replacing it. Remove the heater seal foam from the rear tube and evaporator line flange. Then, remove the screw holding the rear heater core tube and evaporator line flange to the outside edge of the rear heater-A/C housing. Take out the retaining tab that holds the rear heater core tube and evaporator line flange together with the rear heater-A/C housing, then remove the flange. After that, take off the two bolts that fasten the rear evaporator extension lines and the rear A/C expansion valve to the rear evaporator tapping block. Remove the end sections of the lines from the rear A/C expansion valve and release the lines from the rear heater-A/C housing. To finish, pull off the A/C expansion valve from the rear evaporator tapping block, take out and get rid of the O-rings found there and tape or insert plugs into the back A/C expansion valve, the rear evaporator ports and the open ends in the extension lines.
