2009 Dodge Durango A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: Why is Adjusting the Refrigerant Oil Level Important for A/C Hose Functionality and Compressor Health on 2009 Dodge Durango?
A: During A/C service, correcting the refrigerant oil quantity prevents both A/C problems and damage to the compressor. Officially, only use ND-11 Polyester (POE) oil made by Mopar(R) in HEV vehicles, as Polyalkylene Glycol (PAG) oil risks harming the refrigerant system. If you have previously used the recovery and charging equipment on an ordinary car, flush out the hoses using solvent or replace them with those meant for HEVs. When you have to replace several parts in your A/C system, look at the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to know how much oil to add. You should always replace the O-ring seals and gaskets of the refrigerant line if you disconnect it to stop any leaks. The liquid line contains two parts: the front connects the A/C condenser to the receiver/drier and the rear joins the receiver/drier to the front A/C expansion valve, with an addition tube for rear heating-A/C vehicles. First, attache the A/C liquid line to both the receiver/drier and the front A/C expansion valve. Take away the tape or stoppers from inside both couplers. Clean a new rubber O-ring seal with refrigerant oil, place it over the refrigerant line coupler and make sure to use the right O-ring for your R-134a system. Pull the underbody liquid line into the liquid line extension tube and then fasten the secondary retaining clip onto the refrigerant line coupler. If your car uses a battery system, plug it in at the service disconnect at the battery pack; if it is strictly a gasoline model, plug in the negative battery cable. Remove the refrigerant from the system, correctly adjust the level of refrigerant oil and put back into the system as required.
