• Q: How to Remove the Front A/C Accumulator on 2009 Dodge Journey?

  A: End the removal of the front A/C accumulator by first detaching and separating the negative battery cable. Get the refrigerant out of the system that cools your refrigerator. You then remove the nut 5 that holds the A/C liquid line 4 to the tapping block 2 on the right side of the A/C condenser, disconnect the line from the tapping block and throw the O-ring seal and gasket away. Pull the refrigerant line out of the compressor and cover the open fittings with plugs or plastic tape. Raise up the car and place the right front wheelhouse splash shield away so that you can access the A/C accumulator. Take out nut 2, separate the lower A/C suction line from the upper line and throw away the O-ring seal and gasket. Take out bolt 3 holding the rear of the A/C suction line 1 to the right front frame rail 2 and put the suction line off to the side. Unscrew nut 6 which holds the rear A/C line to the A/C accumulator, disconnect the end of the line from the accumulator, throw out the O-ring and gasket and place the line someplace safe. When you are done, remove bolt 5 that holds the A/C accumulator to the right front frame rail, take out the accumulator and be sure to put plugs into all open fittings and the accumulator port.
