2009 Jeep Commander Brake Pad Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove and Replace Rear Brake Pads on 2009 Jeep Commander?
A: First, lift the car and hold it up with a jack and then remove the rear wheel and tire. Working carefully, remove a little brake fluid from the reservoir by sucking it out with a clean suction gun. Pry the caliper over the pistons, remove the four slide pins and lift the caliper (1) off its mounting anchor. Place the caliper (1) on a bolt holding the suspension with a wire, so that the brake hose is not carrying the weight. Afterward, take out the inboard and outboard brake pads from the caliper.
