2009 Jeep Commander Brake Caliper Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace a Brake Caliper on 2009 Jeep Commander?
A: Before you remove and change the rear brake caliper, attach the brake pads and grease the slide pins and housings with the brake caliper's slide grease. Afterwards, fit the caliper onto the anchor and fix it using the caliper slide pin bolts, turning them until you reach 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). Before tightening the brake line fitting bolt, check that the hose is not bent or twisted. Place one new gasket washer on the brake hose and join it to the caliper, then tighten the banjo bolt to 31 Nm (23 ft. lbs.). As soon as you remove the prop rod from the brake pedal, bleed the brake line connected to the bad wheel; if the pedal feel is not restored during the process, then do a full bleed system. Afterward, fit the tires onto the wheels and attach them, strip away the support equipment and settle the vehicle down.
