2009 Jeep Liberty Air Bag Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Install an Air Bag While Following Proper Procedures on 2009 Jeep Liberty?
A: You need to shut down the SRS by unattaching and isolating the negative battery cable. After that, you should wait for two minutes as the air bag system capacitor empties. Specifications must ensure that debris cannot find its way into the driver air bag or between the bag and soft interior trim cover because that debris could cause harm to those occupants after an impact. The air bag trim cover must remain unpainted, because coating it with paint could change its response when it is deployed. If your air bag doesn't work or is broken but did not inflate, handle it like a non-deployed supplemental restraint. If the air bag has gone off, check the instructions on servicing after it has been deployed before you take it out. Position the air bag over the steering wheel so that the connections at the back of the housing can be attached to the rest of the electrical wires. Match the keyed and color-coded pigtails on the Clock Spring driver air bag pigtails to their corresponding receptacles on the air bag inflator connector and push the locks straight in. Install the driver air bag into the steering wheel hub, making certain not to pinch the Clock Spring wires. Attach the lower air bag snap retainer wire loop around the six o'clock hook of the lower hook found on the steering wheel armature. Roll the driver air bag upward and press the two upper snaps over the wire loops so they attach onto the hooks on the steering wheel armature. The SRS verification test should be carried out after any SRS component is serviced, so do not link the battery negative cable at this stage.
