2009 Jeep Liberty Air Bag Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Prepare to Service the Air Bag Sensor on the B-Pillar on 2009 Jeep Liberty?
A: Before touching the B-pillar side impact sensor, unconnect and discharge the negative battery cable and wait a minimum of two minutes before continuing. Side impact sensors should not be hit or dropped, as this might damage them or cause them to become out of focus; if dropped, it is necessary to get a new sensor. The front and side impact sensors are able to be installed in either spot. After reconnecting the wiring harness, place the sensor on the weld stud near the inner B-pillar placing the anti-rotation pin into the clearance hole. Then, attach and tighten the nut with a 7 of Nm (62 in. lbs) torque. After you've fastened the sensor, replace the lower trim inside the B-pillar. After disconnecting the car's negative battery, don't connect it back yet until you've finished all the SRS verification tests after servicing any SRS component.
