2010 Dodge Challenger Coil Springs Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove Coil Springs from the Rear Suspension on 2010 Dodge Challenger?
A: The first thing to do is to raise and support the vehicle to take out the rear suspension coil spring(s). Detach the wheel mounting nuts to take out the rear tire and the whole wheel assembly. Removing the fuel filler tube is necessary when servicing the left side shock absorber. After placing a floor jack underneath the engine cradle, place a second pair of jack stands at the front of the cradle to support the vehicle while you work on the rear suspension. For dual-exhaust vehicles or cars serviced from the right side if there's only one exhaust, insert an under-hoist utility jack or stand below the exhaust at the muffler, separate the exhaust isolators from the muffler and resonator hangers and then suspend the exhaust from the jack or stand. Place a center jack or transmission jack below the rear axle differential and raise the head to contact that part. Leave the stabilizer bar unfixed for now. Loosen the mounting screws on top and remove the bolt and nut from the lowest part of the shock absorber. Don't remove the bolts on the crossmember mounting side that connect to the lower control arm, as this can require a wheel alignment. Both the front and rear crossmember bolts on the repair side should be removed but not so low as to endanger other parts. Decrease the lift of the jack to let the crossmember side with the problemottomp out just enough to clear the shock absorber from the body flange, then remove the shock by lifting the bottom end out of the d-link. Ensure you unhook the brake hose on the side where it's attached to the body so you don't hurt it while pulling. Lower the jack to the point the crossmember is accessible, taking care not to let it fall any lower and then remove both the coil spring and the isolators.
