How to Remove and Repair a Rear Door Latch Assembly on Chrysler 300?

The first thing to do is take off the trim panel on the inside of the rear door and then remove the watershield. Following this, remove the glass door channel and its bracket. In the back of the door shell, unsnap the plastic clip that holds the interior door latch lock link to the latch lever and take the link off the latch. Take out the interior panel door latch lock link and knob from the back door. Continue by popping open the plastic part securing the inside latch release link to the latch lever and then disconnect the outside latch release link. Remove the three screws that are holding the latch to the outside of the rear door. After you have removed all links and the latch is unscrewed from the door, it makes it easier to take the wiring connector apart. Pull the latch inside the door shell from the rear, unclamp the door wire harness and then remove the latch from within the door.

How to Install a Rear Door Latch Assembly on Chrysler 300?

Join the door wire harness connector (1) to the door latch (2) to begin installation. Insert the latch 3 into the slot on the inner rear door shell. Then fit and tighten the three screws to 12 Nm (108 in. lbs.). Reach backwards inside the door shell and engage the exterior door handle latch release link (4) to the latch (2) lever, using the plastic clip to secure them. On the interior door handle, release link (3) fits into the latch lever and should be retained by a plastic clip. Slide the interior door latch lock link and knob unit (2) into the backdoor (1) and let the end of the link engage with the latch lever, plugging it together with the included plastic clip. Reinstall the door glass channel and bracket, followed by the watershield and the trim panel onto the inside of the rear door. Work the adjusting screw (2) on the outside latch (1) loose by putting the wrench through the slot in the outer door shell with access to the screw and cycle the door's latch through its full range of motion (inside) two or three times, then tighten the adjusting screw.
