Chrysler Aspen Washer Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove the Washer Pump from the Reservoir Without Detaching It on Chrysler Aspen?
    A:
In order to change the windshield washer pump/motor unit without removing the reservoir, first unhook and isolate the negative battery cable. To access the rearward lower part of the washer reservoir, reach between the bumper support and left front wheel house splash shield. First, unplug the wire harness connector at the top of the washer pump/motor unit, then disconnect the front washer hose from the pump's inboard outlet and let the fluid from the washer go into a clean container for later use. After that, remove the rear washer hose from the outboard pump's outlet nipple. Pull the top of the washer pump/motor housing backwards to unclip the top of the snap post from its place in the reservoir. After that, hold the bottom part of the washer pump/motor housing and twist the unit up and down to release the pump inlet nipple from the rubber grommet seal/filter screen under the reservoir. Get rid of the rubber grommet seal/filter screen from inside the pump mounting hole on the wash reservoir.
  • Q: How to Install a Washer Pump on Chrysler Aspen?
    A:
To start, put a new rubber grommet seal/filter screen into the washer pump opening of the washer reservoir. Place the inlet nipple of the washer pump/motor on the screen/filter in the reservoir and slowly press the lower part of the pump until it's completely seated. Correctly place the snap post that comes from the motor housing into the snap post receptacle of your washer and fasten the motor housing down until the posts align and snap. Reconnect the hose from the rear washer to the back outlet nipple on the pump and connect the front washer hose to the inboard pump outlet nipple. Plug the wire harness connector back into the pump motor at the top, add new washer fluid to the reservoir that was removed earlier and finally link the negative battery cable.
