The Tie Rod End in Chrysler Cirrus cars helps in the steering system of the car and its responsibility is to establish a connection between the steering rack, as well as, the steering knuckles. This coupling is vital if the vehicle is to remain stable or to be steered with a reasonable degree of accuracy. The assembly is made of the inner and outer tie rod ends relating to flexibly enabling appropriate steering responses. While the overview does not specify variations in types or styles of Tie Rod Ends used across different Cirrus models, the fundamental function remains consistent: for steering and anti swaying of the vehicle to make sure that all wheels are in right directions. The specifications and nature of the materials used to manufacture the Tie Rod End, may differ but it has one job on every vehicle that is part of the Chrysler Cirrus class, and that is to deliver good steering.

Chrysler Cirrus Tie Rod End Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Tie Rod End on Chrysler Cirrus?
    A:
Start by loosening the joint between the inside tie rod and the outer tie rod nut. Hold the tie rod end stud with an 11/32 socket and remove the outer tie rod end nut connected to the Steering Knuckle with a wrench. First, use Remover, Special Tool MB-991113, to get the tie rod end stud off the steering knuckle and afterwards un-thread the outer tie rod end repeatedly from the inner tie rod. Ensure that the outer tie rod goes on the inner one and that the jam nut sits on the inner tie rod but hasn't been tightened yet, when you assemble it. Set the heat shield on the rod end, insert the rod end into the steering knuckle, insert the nut onto the stud and attach it slightly to the knuckle. With the stud in place, tighten the connecting nut and then use a crowfoot and 11/32 socket to twist it to 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.). Do not turn or twist the steering gear boot when you are checking it for leaks. After setting the front Toe on the car, tighten the tie rod jam nut to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.). Always recheck and straighten the steering gear and inner tie rod boots when they appear twisted after a Toe adjustment.
