Before repairing the valve stem seal, first remove the
Camshafts and make the
Crankshaft turn until the compression stroke. Use your air hose to supply air pressure of 90-120 psi to the spark plug hole using the adapter tool. Raise the gearbox, use adapter 6779 on the special tool MD-998772-A, compress the valve springs and take out the valve locks and the valve springs. A valve stem seal tool should be used to take out the valve stem seal(s). First, fit the valve seal or valve spring seat assembly onto the valve guide, pushing it firmly downwards. The next step is to fit the valve spring and retainer, with Special Tool MD-998772-A and adapter 6779 to just compress the spring so the locks are easily installed and kept straight. Toward the end, remove the air hose, set in the spark plugs and reinstall the camshafts and cylinder head cover.
