How to service the Intermediate Shaft on Chrysler 300?

At the beginning, if you have an adjustable steering column, pull it all the way out, then move the car's front wheels forward and center the steering wheel. Afterward, attach a steering wheel holder to block the steering column's rotation. Raise and hold the car and press the release button on the parking brake lever. After that, unscrew pinch bolt 3 connecting intermediate shaft 1 to steering coupling shaft 2 and split intermediate shaft 1 from the steering coupling 2. Set the vehicle on the ground and remove the two nuts that fix the intermediate shaft to the dash panel. Pull out the shaft seal at the dash panel and get rid of bolt 3 that holds the intermediate shaft to the steering column shaft 1. Lastly, pull intermediate shaft 2 off the steering column shaft 1 and take it out from the vehicle.

How to remove the intermediate shaft on Chrysler Town & Country?

Before removing the intermediate shaft, shift the floor carpet so that you can see the steering column coupling at its base. First, move the front wheels and the steering wheel straight ahead, then fix the steering wheel holder accordingly. After that, remove the bolt holding the intermediate shaft coupling (1) and separate the intermediate shaft (2) from the intermediate shaft extension (3) at the base inside the column. Loosen the bolts or screws (1) attaching the shaft seal and cover (2) and pull the shaft seal and cover off the intermediate shaft extension (4) and from underneath the floor pan. Support and raise the vehicle, remove the bolts securing the intermediate shaft extension to the steering gear shaft and slide the extension off the shaft as you release the bolts.
