Chrysler Town & Country vehicle has what is known as the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) which helps in the control of mixture of air to fuel needed for combustion. It works in tandem with the fuel injection system by reporting real-time throttle position and sends this information to the vehicle computer so that the computer can modulate fuel feed according to the power requirement of the engine. It repeats several tens per one second and produces continuous acceleration as well as deceleration. Different types of Throttle Position Sensor have been used by Chrysler, which may include the udapated opto potentiometer type potentiometric sensors, new developed hall effect, inductive or magnetoresistive non contacting types. These highly developed sensors result in better reliability and performance, while eliminating mechanical approaches where hysteresis for instance determine changes in magnetic fields. Also, other close-related sensors such as Wide Open Throttle (WOT) sensors assists the Throttle Position Sensor for effective control of the engine performance in Chrysler Town & Country.

Chrysler Town & Country Throttle Position Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install a Throttle Position Sensor on a 3.3/3.8L Engine on Chrysler Town & Country?
    A:
The first step is to install the Throttle Position Sensor onto the Throttle Body, then cut the purge pipe off of the throttle body. After that, fit the throttle body in the correct location and hold it with the three bolts; tighten all the bolts securely. With the rest done, join the throttle and speed control cables to the throttle body and match up the electrical connectors at the TPS and the IAC. Set the air cleaner box lid into place and then connect the hose to the throttle body. Lastly, attach the electrical connector to the Inlet Air Temperature sensor and resume connecting the negative battery cable.
