Clean and burr-free the surfaces on both the chain case cover and the cylinder block and remove the
Crankshaft oil seal to verify the oil pump is fitting properly. After placing the new gasket, line up its lower edge with the chain case cover so that it goes 0.5 mm (0.020 in.) further down than the cover. First, turn the crankshaft until the oil pump drive faces vertical and then rotate the inner rotor so it is level with the drive flats on the crankshaft. Set the oil pump carefully on the crankshaft to avoid it getting seriously damaged. Install the
Timing Cover and use M8 bolts to secure it by tightening them to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) and use M10 bolts to secure the timing cover by tightening them to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.). After that, add the crankshaft front oil seal, then assemble the
Water Pump and pulley and finally add the crankshaft vibration damper. After the
Engine Mount bracket, secure M10 bolts to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) and M8 bolts to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). Next, put the idler pulley on the engine mount bracket and on the right side engine mount. Insert the
Camshaft Position Sensor, follow with linking the heater return hose to the back of the timing chain cover or to the water pump inlet tube if you have an
Oil Cooler and lastly, hook the radiator lower hose. Set up the new compressor with
Drive Belt next and install the freshly prepared oil pump pick-up tube with its new O-ring at a tightening bolt pressure of 28 Nm (250 in. lbs.). Place the
Oil Pan, inner splash shield and right front wheel onto the engine, add engine oil up to the indicated level, fill the cooling system and join the negative cable to the battery.
